Fernando and I had been threatening for years to do a simple recording of traditional stuff. Of course when we got down to recording he didn’t want to sing the stuff we had rehearsed, so most of this album was done on the spot. We recorded everything in three days and I think that gave us a pretty raw feel that I like. Patric Oliver did all of the percussion and showed up with this incredible old bass drum that we used for the Seguiriya. This is not a very polished or produced CD. We just sort of got into the studio for a few days and recorded what Fernando felt like singing.
